It is the second book in the Series but can be read as a standalone. I have not read book one. I found the story to be easy to follow and the writing was good. Emma Laroux lives in Ministry, Alabama and has a pretty great life. She runs a thriving beauty pageant coaching business and is a former beauty queen herself. Matt Pope is a TV director who comes to Ministry to direct a cooking show that Emma’s sister Cammie is the star of. Matt Pope is a good looking man and recognizes Emma from a crazy weekend back in his college days where he saved her but she doesn’t remember him. Basically sparks fly and they start seeing each other. The problem is Emma’s ex-boyfriend,Tad and his creepy obsession with her. He’s married to someone else but still thinks of Emma as his and every love interest Emma has had ends up breaking it off with her. Tad is the town mayor and has pull with a lot of law enforcement and high officials so he always gets what he wants. There is great chemistry between Emma and Matt and much to the dismay of Tad, they find themselves together. Of course not without a lot of drama and secrets etc. some major secrets come out later on. I don’t want to give away too many spoilers so I will stop there. I haven’t read a lot of southern books or books that take place in the south but after living in some of the southern states (Arkansas and Georgia) I am very intrigued to read more. I miss the southern hospitality and this book satisfied that down home craving i have been needing. I feel like the author has a lot of talent and hope she keeps writing the series because I would love to find out what happens to the rest of the family. My favorite part of the book was when Tad’s wife gets a clue and in order not to spoil any major plot lines I will leave that there. Anyway good book and hope to get to read the sequels soon.
