AMY DAWS lives in South Dakota and writes amazing, emotional, contemporary romance novels that mainly take place in London. THAT ONE MOMENT is the second book in the LOST IN LONDON series, but it can also be read as a stand a lone. This book is particularly hard for me to review because of the deep, raw emotions. The highs are high and the lows will rip your heart out. Amy has definitely written a great story of love, trust, hurt and betrayal. She has created strong, lovable, somewhat flawed characters, that will pull you into their life and have you feel every emotion with them.
Hayden is a lost soul. He will tear your heart out one minute and the next you absolutely fall in love with him. Hayden struggles with a dark past that threatens to destroy him ever finding happiness. He feels responsible for his sister’s death and the deep feeling of hopelessness ultimately leads to a suicide attempt. Hayden tries to turn his life around and embarks on a long, hard journey of therapy and concentrating on moving forward.
Vi is simply a sweetheart. She is a gorgeous blonde with a spirited personality and has a heart as big as Texas. Vi is the only daughter with four sexy, rough and tough footballer brothers. They have unique personalities and their banter will keep you laughing hysterically. Their protectiveness of Vi is amusing and sweet, and has forced her to be a strong, willful force.
Hayden and Vi’s journey is powerful! Their chemistry is off the charts, and they discover a love that is deeper and more fulfilling than they expect. Every time they have an emotional breakthrough, Hayden gets frightened and wants to protect Vi by pulling away. He fears that he is broken and will never be capable of loving someone without hurting them. Vi is head strong and she fights for them, but with her own insecurities, she is finally defeated and gives Hayden what he thinks he wants: to be alone.
Will Hayden finally realize that Vi is the one person who can make him whole again? Will Vi give him one more chance to discover how good they can be together?
This is one of those “must read” books that will make you want to read the rest of the series. Great job Amy!
