This is a series but I do not see any reason why you could not read this book as a standalone at all. This story does have a HEA to it. This is the first book of three that are out now. I felt that the first part of the book was a little bit slow and it took me a bit to get into the book. Once it picked up though, I could not put the book down. This book goes back and forth between Pea’s view and then Con’s view. The author does good job of making sure all questions and concerns are answered. I feel that parts of the book were a little drug out.

It was a long road for Pea and Con. They have known each other since grade school. Been friends and then a couple since they were 5 years old. They stay the ultimate couple until one night changes all of that. Pea closes in on herself and shuts everyone out. She keeps major secrets that she feels she cannot share with anyone. Her life has one tragic thing after another happen to her. The only family that she has is her friends.

Then a new guy comes into her life and changes it more than she ever thought possible. She finds it so easy to open up to him and tell him all of the things that she has been keeping inside. Once she opens up to him it is like a waterfall effect and she knows that she also has to tell her friends/family all of the things that she has tried to deal with on her on. This includes Con.

Con has been overseas trying to move on with his life. To get a clean start away from Pea. He spends a lot of time at bars trying to drink Pea out of his system. This is not working. After Pea has to contact him to let him know one of their friends is attacked he finally decides she is still the one for him. He sets into motion everything he can to win her back. He knows about the new guy in her life but still has to give it his all.

When all the secrets Pea has kept buried and a few new ones from her new guy she is afraid that she will not still have all of her friends and Con in her life any more. She ends up having more family/friends that she ever thought she could have.
