Laurel is an amazing artist who is living life the way she wants instead of the way that her parents are trying to force her to live. Neil is a single dad who is an amazing writer that has a passion for his work unlike a lot of people. They meet at an artist retreat of sorts where they mentor others in their line of work. Laurel comes from a background of people in her family being lawyers or the spouse of a lawyer and it is so very far from what she wants that she decides to go her own way. Neil knew he wanted to be a writer and went to school for it and is known very well for his work in horror. They meet and have somewhat of a whirlwind romance, but it doesn’t change the way that they feel about each other. And the fact that Laurel gets along with Neil’s daughter Violet just makes things even easier on him to fall in love. Everything in all honesty runs really smoothly for them until the final couple of days leading up to the end of the camp they are working, when Neil decides that he’s too damaged due to the recent loss of his ex wife in a car accident, and working to much on top of having a teenage daughter to contend with. Thankfully in the end both Laurel and Neil come to their senses. This is the first time I have ever read anything from this author and I have to say that I love her work. This book will be hopefully the first of many that I read from Crystal Jordan. The way that she has written this book you can feel all of the emotions that go along with the characters and their journey. If you ever get the chance to read a Crystal Jordan book please do and I hope that you enjoy as much as I have.
