Hunger Moon is a story filled with action and mystery. Melissa Shark blends a shifter novel and Norse mythology flawlessly. It was intriguing to read about the old beliefs in modern society.
After the death of her parents, Victoria Storm becomes alpha. The hunter’s have killed off most of her pack, leaving few remaining. She is also a shaman and priestess of the goddess Freya. To keep her pack alive she must find an alpha to mate with. Someone strong enough to protect them and to share the responsibility of the pack with. Freya sends her to Sierra Pines, California, to find her lifemate.
Arik Koenig was never expecting a stubborn, beautiful alpha to walk into his office, let alone his life. Since the loss of his wife, he has been alone with his son. He felt her power the minute she neared his office. Instead of submitting to him, he was surprised when she challenged him. She was direct and blunt in stating she wanted him as a mate. This was definitely not what he expected when he woke up this morning.
Trying to trust each other yet keeping secrets, the story progresses. Many obstacles are in their way to being together. The hunter’s are chasing her, a witch is trying to destroy Arik and his son Logan and lies abound. Can Victoria and Arik overcome death and despair to be together?
With lots of twists and turns, this book kept me guessing until the end. Looking forward to reading book two. I give it 4 stars.
