This book gives you all of the feelings possible in a short amount of story. This is the first book in a series, and it definitely draws you in.

Kylie Parker has more than her fair share of problems to deal with. Every day she feels broken, unworthy, unlovable, but she hides it all well. She has had a lot of practice. Hiding the secrets of her childhood from the outside world, no one would guess how much pain she is really in. When she is convinced by circumstances out of her control to leave the country for a while, she sees it as a reprieve and maybe even a fresh start, at least for the time she is away. Then she meets Alex, the violet eyed hearth throb that works for the United States government and he plans to make everything right for Kylee. All he sees when he looks at her is someone he needs to protect with every fiber of his being. What makes the need so strong? As their relationship progresses and secrets are told the danger heightens too. Who is putting whom at more risk? Their relationship is a roller coaster and I am buying a ticket for the ride.

I thought the book was a bit short, but compelling, I read it in a day because I couldn’t stop myself. I felt Kylee’s pain, her embarrassment, her self doubt. I felt the relief when Alex put his arms around her. I got angry when she revealed her secrets and I felt the betrayal she felt. No matter the length of the book I wanted more. I would have wanted more if it was twice as long. The author has a talent for describing a scene so perfectly that you feel like you are there. Renteria using South Korea for this crazy love story changes the dynamic like I haven’t seen before. South Korea plays a part of the story and it is refreshing to see a place that I know little about be a focal point like this. I am looking forward to the next installment, that cliffhanger was a doozy.
