Evey was one cold hearted woman and very stubborn. She had all right to be this way. She simply would not give anybody a chance in her life. Seeing what she had to deal with as a child I don’t too much blame her. But, deep down inside she yearned for it and wanted it, but was not going to say that she did. Mr. Parks, wealthy, young stud walked into Evey’s life and turned it upside down. She was fighting demons in her head the whole time. Mr. Parks was used to getting what he wanted from anyone. When he met Evey, she did the same for him, turned his world upside down. He never met anyone like her and had to have her. Evelyn was so confused
about what she was feeling for Mr. Parks. She never let anyone in her tough shell. She never fell in love. She was a one night stand kind of girl. I really felt for Evey in some sense. It is hard to let someone in when you think in the long run will just hurt you. Mr. Parks owned the law firm Evey worked for and in town for awhile. Carla, a witch, was the boss and didn’t like Evey from the start, because of rumors. Evey worked closely with Charles. Charles was a simple man, worked and went home to the wife. Evey lived with her best friend, Stephanie. Stephanie’s brother, Matthew liked Evey but Evey didn’t feel the same for him. He was the “good” guy. He could keep Evey straight and out of trouble. Evey had a difficult childhood. Her mother was an alcoholic and drug addict. She had no business having a child. The way she did her daughter was awful. But, still Evey loved her because it was her mother. She just wanted her to love her, but knew it would never happen.
Evey’s dad was a coward and bowed down to Evey’s mother. However, her mother went to rehab. Came straight back to home and promised them she was clean and going to stay clean. Evey knew better but gave her another chance. She was torn when she was away from Parks, she didn’t like feeling that way. She was jealous in one hand and didn’t care in another. Or so she told herself that. She used alcohol to numb her, she too was an alcoholic, in recovery. Stephanie had been Evey’s rock in the darkest time of her life. Evey kept denying what she was feeling for Parks, and it drove her back to the bottle. When she was away from him, she wanted
him. When she was with him, she wanted him, but always left denying what she was feeling.
Would Parks ever get Evey as his? I’m diving in to the second book of this series. Addicted to Mr. Parks.
