I received this book in exchange for an honest review. This is book three in the harbor bay series and I have not read any of the others. The book was ok but got substantially better 80% in. At this point there was more excitement and buildup. I felt that parts dragged some but once I hit 50% the story got better and a lot more interesting. Aimee is the lead female. She is a nice woman who owns a sex club that is doing very well and she takes very good care of her employees. Her sister Louisa is brutally murdered close to her club bringing the police around asking questions. Aimee feels terrible about what happened to her sister and blames herself for her sister’s death. James Hawke is harbor bays newest detective. Not only is he hot but the first day on the job he is investigating Louisa’s murder. There is an insta lust between him and Aimee. Like it’s so thick if you were stuck in a room with them it would hit you in the face. Aimee is anti-men/commitment where James is more ready to settle down. So there is a ton of back and forth with this. They both have some stuff they need to work through basically. Aimee has a terrible relationship with her mother. Her mother is uber religious and just kind of awful. Always calling her names and stuff. Let’s just say at her sister’s funeral her mother and friends consider Aimee a freak show instead of it being about Louisa. I figured out who did it at about 85% in. Which it was so gratifying to see that I was correct (I am usually not!) so it was fun to figure it out and it was pretty shocking. My favorite quote was as follows: “Don’t give up on me,” he continued. “I want to be the one that stays –the last one. I know I have to earn your trust and I promise you if you just give me a chance I’ll prove to you that not all men are bastards.” Anyway it was a pretty decent read. Thanks for letting me review
