Underneath it all, The Walsh series I, by Kate Canterbary is the first book in a 4 book series. This was my first book by Canterbary, but certainly not my last.

The book begins with Lauren’s POV. Lauren is an emotional, confident, clumsy, dirty talking twenty-eight-year-old. She lands a once in a lifetime paid internship to live her dream to open and run her own school. But first she first needs to find the perfect building.

Matthew is a thirty-year-old alpha “caveman” of an architect who works for his father, whom he isn’t fond of due to years of abuse. With his siblings, they try to make changes to the firm to push their father out and make it their own.

Lauren was done with men and swore them off; she didn’t want to worry about fixing them anymore.

Matt meets Lauren while helping her find the perfect building and he is immediately hooked on her.

All Lauren can think about is Matt and how he felt against her when he prevented her from falling flat on her face.

One night with Lauren isn’t enough for Matt. One night with Matt was amazing to Lauren but she runs, afraid of relationships.

The book progresses with their relationships and professional goals. Matt being the alpha male, wants Lauren to see they are good together and tries to get Lauren to stop pushing him away. Without giving too much away, the books end with a HEA.

I really enjoyed this book. Both Matthew and Lauren are stubborn and strong willed, and that alone made me want to continue to read.

I enjoyed the interaction Lauren had with Matthews family and the funny banter that came with it.

I wanted to see what happens with the school for Lauren, the business for Matt and the relationship for both.

I loved the chemistry between Matt and Lauren, it was instant and it was undeniable. The sex scenes were hot and well written.

I appreciated that it was a dual POV. I like to get in the heads of both characters and was happy about how Canterbary wrote the characters.

I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the other books in this series! 4 stars for this book!
